Lily Room

Our Lily environment is homely, welcoming and nurturing which is ready for the babies to play, grow and learn. There is a wide selection of easy accessible resources including natural and real life objects both indoors and out which provide stimulating and rich opportunities. The Lily’s also have access to outdoors where they can explore safely the wonders of nature either in the nursery garden or out for a stroll.

The first years of a child’s life is a period of rapid growth along with cognitive, social and emotional development. Therefore our role as professional practitioners is to support children and their families through this period to allow reassurance, consistency and a well balanced experience.

Within this age group we follow Pre-Birth to Three, Building the Ambition and Realising the Ambition, which are national practice guidance for practitioners. The documents support practitioners in providing high quality early learning and childcare. They can be found following the links below:

Routines

Each baby is unique and will have their own individual routines. We try to accommodate each baby and their personal needs. To do this we ask that parents/carers share their routine in detail so that we can provide consistency at nursery.

Sleep

The Lily’s have a separate sleep room for the babies to peacefully rest without the distractions of others playing. We use a video monitor and follow Scottish Sleep Safe Guidance to ensure each sleeping babies safety.

Food and Drink

We ask that all food is provided by the parents/carers until the baby turns 15 months old, this is due to allergies and stages of weaning.

Breastfeeding and bottles

We fully support breastfeeding mums and will provide a quiet space if they wish to feed at nursery.

If the baby still requires a bottle, best practice suggests to make each bottle fresh. Therefore we advise all families to provide the bottles and formula powder only.
